IRINA CONSTANTINE POULOS | PRESIDENT | ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

 

 Ms. Poulos was born in Greece where she danced lead roles in numerous ballets with Alexei Feoktistov’s Company. Upon graduation from Athens College, she attended the American College of Greece, where she performed with the DereeDance Company. Ms. Poulos holds an MFA in Choreography from NYU – Tisch School of the Arts. In 2004, she established the oXymoros Dance Theatre and co-founded the ANNEX Group, while in 2007 she founded Choreo Theatro Company501(c)3. The Brooklyn based dance company is dedicated to promoting the classics as well as newly created work to diversified communities by intergrading narrative with interactive media. Choreo Theatro collaborates with a network of 60 performers, designers, composers and specialists. 

Ms. Poulos’ most recent production, Homer’s Odyssey, was successfully presented in collaboration with The Readers of Homer at NYC’s 92nd Street Y. She is currently consulting on choreography issues for movement-based social games, for the rehabilitation of upper-limb sensorimotor function of wheelchair-confined individuals for the School of Cinematic Arts, at the University of Southern California. Simultaneously, she is developing the Thinker, a collaboration with Mr. Lympouridis, Steve Toltz (author of the award winning “A Fraction of the Whole”), and the Creative Media and Behavioral Health Center at USC — School of Cinematic Arts.
